A Family Vacation During the Civil War!

In the camp of 31st Pennsylvania Infantry 1862.
Here we see a woman with her sleeves rolled up holding a laundry basket, poised in front of a tent with a soldier, possibly her husband, holding a saw and with other soldiers in the background.
Even more striking is the presence of her three children – and the family dog!
On the ground under the stool is a heavy iron and her husband is holding a saw and a long handled axe. One can only imagine what circumstances resulted in this family staying together in this way.
